About the Manaslu:

So named for the twin tapered points or peaks on either end, this pen is one of the newest pens in the lineup. It is named after the volcanic Twin Peaks Mountains on Northern Vancouver Island in Southwestern British Columbia. It is the eighth highest mountain in the world.

Manaslu Dimensions:
The Manaslu is a shorter styled pen at about 5 1/2" long, but similar in diameter to the other larger pens. The most prominent feature would be the exterior mounted antique gold finish "Art Deco" styled clip (only gold is available). It can also be ordered with a matching gold accent band behind the section. It comes standard with a #6 steel nib in your choice of finishes and tip sizes. Current finishes available are: polished steel, 2-tone, and Black Oxide. Tip sizes available are: x-fine, fine, medium, broad, or 1.1 and 1.5 italic. The pen can be ordered in one of the material shown or you can choose your own custom color and material.

Manaslu Options and Upgrades:
The Manaslu is another style that allows you a few upgrade options. You can add metal accent bands at various location for a little additional touch of flash such as at the base of the cap, or the end of the barrel. I have accent bands in several finishes and a variety of diameters and widths from 1 to 4mm. And as with most other JEB's PENs, the Manaslu can be ordered in the materials shown or you can choose your own material to make your own one-of-a-kind pen. Inking systems available are the standard cartridge/converter (C/C), or it can be upgrade to a button filler. Nib size is #6, and is available in several finishes. Current tip sizes available are x-fine, fine, medium, broad, or two sizes of italic.

I also offer a variety of hand-made Pen Props and Pen Buttons. You can order a Pen Prop in a material to match your pen, or any one of the wooden styles made in a variety of stained and dyed colors. The Pen Buttons are available for any of the clipless pens.

About this Pen:

Wheever I make a new pen STYLE, I first start out with a layout that contains the basic shape and size of the parts-- similar to a "blueprint". Then once I get the size and shape refined, I'll make a "reference pen". I use to use whatever colors or patterns I had in stock, but I found that the reference pen is easier to use if it's made using a SOLID color so any problems aren't being masked by the material being used. And BLACK seemed the best color choice since it was easily available from multiple suppliers. So I'll usually have a solid black pen for all of my pen styles. Then whenever I have an order for that pen style, I'll use both the layout (a printed copy of the saved file) AND the reference pen as a guide while making the new pen. The combination helps ensure that I get the most consistent size and shape possible every time I made another pen. But they are still a handmade product and individually hand-turned, so the size and shape can still vary slightly.

About this Material:
There isn't much to say about this material-- it's just your basic SOLID BLACK Acrylic Acetate. When I first started making custom pens, BLACK was the ONLY solid color available. But I guess as penturning became more popular, the demand for solid colors must have grown as well. One of the driving forces was TEAM color combination. So now there's a variety of solid colors available--BUT unfortunately not EVERY color. For some reason there are some colors that are available in abundance (such as multiple shades of BROWN), but then other colors are hard to find (such as a nice shade of blue or red). Then on the other side of the coin, the tone and shade of some of the colors are a little hidious (IMHO). "Nice" primary tone colors pop up every now and then, but usually disapear as quicly as they appeared. Maybe it's because primary colors are just hard to create in acrylic. Or it's more likely that just not all colors are in demand. I've developed kind of a fetish for solid colors, so if a decent looking color becomes available, I'll usually buy a few blanks. So I think I've collected a nice assortment of colors.
